In depth

Verdict

Another big field to wade through here and MICHAELS DREAM is a tentative choice in what is a tricky race for punters, while Lockstown, Finlay's Footsteps and Scott's Mill can show up well. The Noel Wilson-trained selection has not won for going on two years, but he has an opportunity here. He acts on this going, stays well, and has won from higher marks, while he gets on particularly well with today's pilot Wilson Renwick. Admittedly his latest run leaves him with a bit to prove, but hopefully he can overcome that with a win. Lockstown is lightly-raced and so there is potential for improvement from the six-year-old. Trip and ground suit, though on a cautionary note he has been beaten off this mark on both his last two starts. Finlay's Footsteps has a 0 - 13 record thus far but he has made the frame including when runner up here last time in a 2m 3f seller. He handles the ground but does have to prove that he stays this far. Scott's Mill represents the in-form Sue Smith yard that has a good record here. Trip and ground are of no concern, though a harsh-looking 8lb rise for his latest run will make this tough enough. Kinfayre Boy is interesting given that Sue Smith's claimer takes the mount on him and the combination went close over course and distance in December. Sadly, a 6lb rise did for him last time and from the same mark he too could struggle. Tomillielou and Bobtante also have frame claims but we suggest Michaels Dream can end a nightmare losing run.
