In depth

Verdict

Ellmau is significantly the best off at the weights here but is not certain to stay, and the same applies to Planetarium, so we will take a chance on Silk Affair in this four runner contest. The Mick Quinlan-trained selection has not yet raced beyond a mile, but she has handled cut pretty well in all three starts to date and her pedigree suggests that she will come on for this trip, so she is the pick. Planetarium is very much respected coming from a top local yard and he has managed 10 furlongs in all of his three starts, and while he may get home, his pedigree suggests that 10f will probably remain his optimum trip. Ellmau is well in on official ratings when considering the conditions for this race and has the benefit of a previous run this season. He is probably worth a try over this trip but is likely to be best at shorter. Mischief Making has been on terrific form on artificial surfaces and comes here for her turf debut. She may well handle the ground but is another for whom this will ask questions of her stamina and therefore Silk Affair, who looks best of the quartet on that score, gets the vote.
