Soulard looks worth giving another chance to in this marathon maiden, with Estrelle the main danger and Kalantera one to note. The Jeremy Noseda-trained selection was unhappy with the soft ground on his only abortive start at this sort of trip at Nottingham in May. Since then he's found better form on fast ground, and this step back up to 1m6f looks well worth a try by connections. The colt still looks like one who has the scope to improve and he can score here. Estrelle has to give 10lb to the selection and that can prove to be beyond the filly. She was outbattled by Hezaam and a couple of others at Ripon and beaten comfortably at Epsom the other day and as she has to prove she stays this far she is overlooked. Kalantera was hammered over this trip at Goodwood last month and is another with something to prove, though Andrew Balding is persisting with him, but we prefer Soulard, who can break his duck.
