In depth

Verdict

Several hold chances in a wide open handicap but Greenwich Meantime makes plenty of appeal after his smooth victory at Doncaster last week. He is selected over Into The Shadows and Jeepster, who can make this a good test. Thewhirlingdervish is another to have a close look at, as he has several pieces of form that give him claims in a race of this nature. Strangely for an exposed individual that is relatively locally trained, he makes his debut at this course today and the change of scenery may do him good. He is one to bear in mind for next time. Into The Shadows is a consistent sort that should continue to pay her way this season. She is one to seriously consider if the vibes are strong about her chance. Jeepster has ability and could easily make the frame if he puts his mind to it. However, he does have to prove that this trip suits and others make more appeal for win only purposes. Which brings us back to Greenwich Meantime, who has no such questions to answer regarding his stamina and is obviously in great heart after his emphatic success on Town Moor just six days ago. He is unpenalised for that success, as it came in an amateur riders event. Even so, today's rider knows plenty about his quirks and, from the bottom of the weights, Greenwich Meantime is expected to be very hard to beat in his follow up bid today.
