Verdict

A poor seller and Nelsons Column can take it at the principal expense of Pairumani Pat and Matinee Idol. Nelsons Column is quite some way clear of these on official figures but the question punters have to ask themselves is whether he'll fully appreciate two miles on the flat. With two winless years, he is hardly bombproof but gets the nod by default. Pairumani Pat wasn't totally disgraced on introduction at Windsor. He shaped as if the step up in trip might assist. Matinee Idol does get this trip but has yet to win in 33 attempts. Miss Havisham put up a fair effort in a Southwell handicap in March but has regressed at a rate of knots. Lady Grantley had every chance in a similarly weak seller at Beverley last month. It would be no surprise to see the market reading in her favour given the weak nature of this contest. Evianne has been well beaten on a sole flat start. Roger Charlton's castoffs are generally best avoided so we will look to oppose General Tufto. Nelsons Column has a small question about the trip but should be up to landing such a dire affair.
