Black Or Red has shown improved form of late but the handicapper has taken note and, off a 9lb higher mark than when successful at Ffos Las in July, he looks best left out of calculations with a better bet looking to be JOHN FORBES, who gets the vote over Promise Maker. Tim Walford's gelding has been running consistently well of late since winning a selling handicap at Ripon in June and he has to be respected in a race that should not take a great deal of winning. Alan Swinbank's Miss Keck should appreciate the return to a softer surface and makes more appeal than Mark Brisbourne's Sir Sandicliffe, who is on a long losing sequence and may be a shade high in the weights. Jeremy Glover's Red Wine ran better at Thirsk last time and is another to consider but it is John Forbes that gets the vote. Brian Ellison's gelding has shown improved form of late, was good value for his win at Ayr last time and he is taken to defy the penalty for that success.
