Layla's Lexi looks the pick of the two runners trained by David Nicholls ahead of Layla's Prince but it is hard to get away from COMEDY HALL, who looks the one to be on. Mark Johnston's two-year-olds normally improve form their first start to their second which the son of Valid Expectations did at Southwell last time when chasing home Circumvent and a reproduction of that effort may well suffice. Mercers Row has shown promise in a couple of outings including when a fair third in a Musselburgh nursery last time and he rates a serious threat to the selection. Tim Easterby's Saucy Girl was well held in a Ripon maiden last month and she looks best watched now, while James Hetherton's Mad Millie has run well in her last two starts in maidens but was not surprisingly outclassed the Lowther at York recently. Comedy Hall is nothing out of the ordinary but he should be too good for his opponents here.
