Verdict
A modest contest that can go to Roonah, who just edges the vote over Signal Hill on the grounds of value. John Quinn's newcomers, Graze On and Honor Me are others to note in the betting, with the former making a fair bit of appeal on pedigree. He should at least handle the conditions if he runs to type. Laphonic is also worth keeping tabs on in this company, as he shaped up nicely on his debut and could figure strongly if posting a similar performance. Glenbuck has experience of soft ground but is already exposed and does not look one to be relying for a freak effort, while Signal Hill, who was backed as if defeat was out of the question at Southwell last month; now has something to prove after lacking a change of gear on the all weather. He should appreciate the switch back to turf and it will be a real disappointment for his connections if he cannot make the frame against this lot. However, Roonah makes a touch more appeal as a betting proposition after he finished a close second in a claimer at Newcastle when he was last seen out. Karen McLintock has a good record with other people's cast-offs and, as he is fresher than a few of these, Roonah can pay off the first chunk of the ¿13,000 paid for him at Gosforth Park.
