Verdict

Blue Emirate made a promising debut when third behind Marsh Warbler in a six furlong auction maiden at Redcar last month and Pat Haslam's gelding has to be considered over the extra furlong today but he will need to improve considerably to get the better of CONTRACT CATERER, who gets the vote with Jutland rated the pick of the remainder. The selection ran well enough on soft ground on his debut but ran much better on a faster surface when a head second behind Ishtar Gate in a Leicester maiden last month and a reproduction of that form should suffice for Pat Eddery's colt. Richard Fahey's Aquarian Spirit, a son of Fantastic Light, makes his debut today and he has to be respected given the good form of the yard's runners. Howard Johnson's Desert Forest ran much better in a maiden claimer last time but he needs to step up on that effort to trouble the judge and of more interest may be Jutland. Mark Johnston's colt is a well bred son of Halling and he has to be respected on his debut but he will need to be decent to get the better of Contract Caterer, who is hard to oppose.
