Bergerac can follow up here at the expense of Chabrimal Minster, Pebble Bay and Dramatic Quest. It was no surprise when Bergerac opened his account over hurdles here last week after a couple of promising efforts since arriving from New Zealand, but jockey Henry Oliver revealed afterwards that he did not really like the sharp track. That said, he absolutely bolted up and looks every inch a chaser. He is sure to have been well schooled over the bigger obstacles, will handle the ground and should easily stay this longer trip. He can gallop his rivals senseless to prevail, with Chabrimal Minster seen as the main danger. Richard Ford's charge has a bit more experience, having made up for a fall on his chase debut by getting round in second place when contesting a hunter-chase at Aintree earlier this month. He should be found a race in time, as will Pebble Bay, three times successful over hurdles and a fair second on his chase debut at Sedgefield recently. Dramatic Quest has won both on the Flat and over hurdles but is of limited ability, and his fall at Worcester last time does not lend encouragement. So, although our selection will be suited by a more galloping track, Bergerac has the course knowledge and can make all.
