Our vote goes to BASFORD LASS who lost narrowly last time out, ahead of Maolisa who may be able to challenge and Little Carmela who placed third in her last outing. Basford Lass should have more than enough to see off the rest of the field in this contest. She went close at Worcester where she was headed near the line and finished just behind Cash Back. Off a mark of 6lbs lower today we expect her to be winning today. Maolisa performed well at Perth last time and may be able to provide a challenge here. Little Carmela finished third behind Oursininlaw at Fakenham, however the winner of that race has since performed poorly at Cartmel recently. Saintly Lady finished eighth in that same Fakenham contest. Arabian Silk is trained by Donald McCain Jnr who has a 22% strike rate at Cartmel. The form of Arabian Silk is not as convincing though and this filly has failed to win from twelve starts. She weakened over two miles and this step up in trip is unlikely to reap dividends today. Catleen has the benefit of Peter Buchanan riding and he has a good record at the Cartmel course. Although she is a previous winner it would be a surprise if she produced a result today. Basford Lass should have too much for the competition and should gain the victory.
