Verdict

With just the seven runners due to face the starter here, the draw may not be all that significant and the vote goes to Westborough, who is preferred to Thornaby Green and Leopard Creek. The last mentioned is a sister to the stable's useful sprinter Astonished but has, thus far, given little sign of encouragement. David Barron has been going through a quiet spell but the handicapper has given Thornaby Green a chance, as he has Madra Rua. Of more interest may be Karl Burke's Blue Power, who is 6lbs lower than when landing a nursery at Southwell in December. However, his recent form is of concern, while Lavish Times seems to be in the grip of the handicapper at present. Musselburgh maiden winner Feu Duty is entitled to come on for his reappearance at the same venue last month and has to be respected but Westborough, who looks well treated on juvenile form and ran well when second in a maiden last time, holds obvious claims and gets the vote.
