The Richard Fahey-trained CROSS KEY can come out on top in this maiden; the list of dangers is headed by Bitter Honey and Dazeen. The selection looks to have ability and she ran very green at Ripon earlier in the month when fourth behind Makbullet. That was only her second run and she should come on for it, she will handle the ground and she looks to have been found a good opportunity to shed her maiden tag over this shorter trip which will also suit. Bitter Honey shaped with promise on her nursery debut at Haydock over 6f and she will be more at home in this company over this trip. Dazeen didn't improve for the step up to 6f at Doncaster last time but he had previously run well behind a decent filly over today's trip at Hamilton and if he could replicate that form here then he would have a chance. Alan Swinbank's newcomer Chardonnay is worth a market check on her debut as those with racecourse experience have hardly set the world alight. But there could be more to come from Cross Key and she gets the verdict.
