Winter Garden has been knocking at the door lately and can gain a deserved victory over Red Brae, Supreme Breeze and Smudge. The selection was a beaten favourite at Kelso a fortnight ago, when a combination of the trip and the fact that he failed to settle contributed to his defeat. He also found one too good at Ayr prior to that when found wanting over the minimum trip. Today's two and a half mile journey appears to be his optimum trip, and with a claimer taking off seven pounds, he has a first rate chance. Red Brae appreciated the stiff finish when scoring at Towcester and will appreciate this course more than Huntingdon where he never looked like following up. The handicapper has done him no favours though and he is passed over. Supreme Breeze is an out-and-out stayer who has yet to win over the bigger obstacles, but trainer Sue Smith has a good record here, while Smudge, although not well treated, has been on the upgrade and may sneak a place. It is by no means a strong affair though, and Winter Garden should go close.
