Even though most of these have been around for long time and winning form is thin on the ground. So the selection of old man of the party Erupt is made with a degree of trepidation as he has not visited a winners enclosure for the best part of two years. Nevertheless, he has at least got few wins to his name and is preferred to long standing maidens Dancing Tilly, Night Mail and Merlins Profit, who are far too frustrating to be siding with confidently. Similar comments apply to Hormuz, who has not been getting home lately and looks opposable on balance, while Dash Of Magic, who won a low-grade handicap on the all weather in June, is the most recent winner in the line up and she is respected accordingly. However, she too has shown very little enthusiasm in her last three outings and is left alone today. Therefore we stick with Erupt, as he shaped as if he still has a contest like this within him when going close at Newcastle last week and he may be a little more determined a character than most of these care to deal with.
