Verdict
Shatter Resistant has shown consistency in his three previous starts and his attitude may be enough to see him home before Prunes and Romany Princess. The latter was third in a very modest (for the grade) Listed race at Goodwood earlier in the month. The daughter of Viking Ruler picked up in pleasing fashion near the finish on that occasion and looks sure to play a hand back in this sort of company. However, it is likely she will start at cramped odds for what she has actually achieved, so makes limited appeal for small stakes players. Prunes has winners in her pedigree and is entitled to have come on from her debut run 10 days ago. Seb Sander gave her an educational ride when it became evident she was not going to be successful at Ripon and it would come as no surprise to see an much improved display from the Cadeaux Genereux filly. However, Shatter Resistant has been banging on the door of late and, as he appears to relish a battle, the gelding has the right attributes to throw down the gauntlet from the off. This track favours the brave and Shatter Resistant can give his connections plenty more to cheer about if things go his way.
