Pearl's A Singer can make up for her unlucky fall at Ayr by beating the likes of McEldowney and Key Time in the day's feature race. Michael Bell's filly will be remembered as the horse that ended Robert Winston's challenge for the championship as she crashed to the ground at the Scottish track when headed on the home turn. She may well have been placed but for that mishap though, and on the strength of her two previous successes here and at Catterick, she has a leading chance of getting back to winning ways. McEldowney has hit a rich vein of form at present, having gained back-to-back victories at Hamilton this month, and he is undoubtedly well-treated on past form. Even so, he will do well to give weight to the selection. Key Time was sent off as favourite when switched from the all-weather at Hamilton, but could only finish fourth. He may have been hiding his light under a bushel and is interesting on his first handicap outing. Busaco has failed to cope with a rise in the handicap since scoring at Folkestone but the stable is in good order at present, so a place may beckon at least, but Pearl's A Singer is the pick.
