Zato and Caan both showed promise when fourth and fifth respectively behind Don't Tell Sue at Newbury first time up and have to be respected but marginal preference is for John Claude, who looked as though he would come on for the run at Yarmouth earlier this month. The selection was not given a hard time by Frankie Dettori once beaten and should have learned from that effort. Zato and Caan obviously both have to respected and their not be much to choose between the pair on debut running on a softer surface than today but neither makes much appeal at the forecast odds. Bill Turner has his two-year-olds in better form now so Starboard Light is worth noting in the market, while Paul Blockley's Bold Fact half-brother to Grey Again Hits Only Jude cannot be discounted first time out. John Claude looked a future winner at Yarmouth on his first start though and gets the vote.
