slowly into stride, soon in touch, held up, headway to lead 1f out, soon clear
went left start, soon chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened
led, ridden 2f out, headed and weakened over 1f out
with leader, ridden and led briefly over 1f out, soon beaten
held up in touch, keen, chased winner in vain final furlong
Lady Zanzara gets the vote in the opener, with Louie Louie seen as the main danger and Teddy Monty likely to give a good account. Lady Zanzara has shaped well in both starts to date, at Windsor and Nottingham, and her natural speed should see her prove too strong for today's rivals. She was going like the winner on the second of those two outings 16 days ago, but was fading when slightly hampered by Out The Ordinary. That was still a good effort, and in receipt of the fillies' allowance, she should make amends. Louie Louie finished fifth on his Newmarket debut in good to soft ground, and the fact that he holds a Derby entry suggests that he will not have the speed to cope with this fast five furlongs. However, he should still be good enough to finish second at least and makes most appeal of the rest. Teddy Monty and Wizard Prince have more experience. but have already had their limitations exposed, and Lady Zanzara should have things set up for her by the latter in particular, so rates a solid bet.
