Mon Plaisir appeals as the likeliest winner of this race with Rationale, Spring Dream and Dove Cottage rating the dangers with last year's winner Heathyards Pride worthy of mention. Rationale has a little to prove after a lacklustre run at Newbury but he had looked up to winning a race like this earlier in the season, has dropped back to a nice mark and has the assistance of Jim Crowley who rides this track particularly well. Spring Dream has been a revelation this season but is creeping up the weights and would ideally prefer further. Dove Cottage's five wins have come at Chepstow and Goodwood so he clearly relishes an undulating track; he usually likes to make the running but won't be helped by being drawn high and may not be allowed an easy time of things. Heathyards Pride has dropped to a mark similar to last year's and King Supreme should run his race again but John Dunlop's Pleasant Tap colt can turn it on here. He comfortably landed his second start in handicap company on his first run over middle distances before failing to get a run when stepped up to a mile and a half at Newmarket. That race has produced its share of winners, there should be plenty more to come and Mon Plaisir can delight his fans by winning here.
