Brendan's Surprise gets the call here ahead of mainly Doctor Dennis and Eddies Jewel. Brendan's Surprise was a real eyecatcher here over six furlongs last time, staying on well for a never-nearer finish and, over this longer trip, is taken to build on that today. Course winner Doctor Dennis's second over course and distance in a similar event last time out gives him leading claims in this contest, although his wide draw is a concern. Daisys Girl was a length and three quarters behind him in third that day, Prince Valentine was two-and-three-quarter lengths behind him in that race, and Good Wee Girl a further three-parts-of-a-length behind, although the latter pair are better drawn today, and the form has been franked by the win of Noorain since. Eddies Jewel would hold claims based on his Leicester second two runs ago, although he's never run here. Harbour House has won over five here and has form enough to be considered but the trip is a question to answer. Morag is in-and-out but might make a place, while Nebraska City has yet to make the frame in 15 Turf attempts, although he has suggested another try at this trip might help. Ninah has gone well here in the past, Yamato Pink has chances if on a going day, as does Canary Dancer, while June form gives Yorkies Boy a shout. Angel River's six-furlong run here in August gives him a chance, and Eden Star cannot entirely be ruled out. It's a tricky one, but the vote goes to Brendan's Surprise.
