Verdict

This nice prize has been won by some decent performers in the past and that could be the case again. THE LAST LION won the Brocklesby and went to Ascot as an odds-on chance but found one too good in the USA-trained Create A Dream. He was disqualified for causing interference and providing he handles this quicker ground should gain compensation. His stablemate Mailshot, a winner over this trip at Pontefract, didn't quite last home over an extra furlong at Newbury and will be more at home here. He was beaten by Wick Powell when both made their debuts at Southwell last month and the winner has been saved for this. Richard Fahey won this with Gabrial in 2011 and Springwood is another who will be suited by dropping back to the minimum after failing to stay 6f at Newmarket. Ann Duffield has a good record with juveniles on the track so Rainbow Mist is no forlorn hope while Logi made his debut in what looked a strong maiden at York and will have come on a bundle for the experience. Prince Of Lir cost £40,000 as a yearling and £170,000 earlier this year and Robert Cowell wouldn't be sending him for a race of this nature without good reason.
