A good prize on offer for the track and of course high numbers are usually favoured on the sprint course. Hellvelyn does not have too bad a pitch and can probably edge this, while Borderlescott can go very well, and the Dandy Nicholls trio of Peace Offering, Tax Free and Strike Up The Band can't be discounted. Hellvelyn has been tried in Group 1 company on his last three starts, finishing fourth in the Middle Park last year and four lengths adrift of Sakhee's Secret in the July Cup, his only outing this season. The drop back to this stiffish 5f should not unduly inconvenience and he has the class to score. Borderlescott would be a stronger candidate if the rains come. He loves cut, but does act on faster surfaces and he is respected, though 6f appears his optimum. Peace Offering is another who wants rain. Even so, he too handles decent ground, and from a middle draw and with plenty of good form over the minimum trip he may give the selection most to do. Tax Free was third in a Group 3 at Goodwood last time and is the Nicholls yard's strongest player on official ratings, but along with Strike Up The Band has a poor draw to overcome, and our vote here goes to Hellvelyn.
