A furiously competitive sprint where not too many can be confidently ruled out when drawing up a shortlist. However, the statistics about the draw at Beverley speak for themselves and a position close to the far-side rail will no doubt again be the place to be here. Therefore, Trinculo is given a slender vote of preference after a couple of solid displays already posted this season. He is just preferred ahead of Coconut Penang, who is also well drawn but has a bit to do at the weights, and Caribbean Coral, who has a little to find with the selection after their meeting at Doncaster last month. There is also a fair bit of pace on the near side though and it will be no surprise to see previous course and distance winner Henry Hall get competitive if he can keep tabs with the likes of Johnston's Diamond and Matty Tun, who are both capable of going close in this sort of company. While Simmiana and Vita Spericolata are others that also have solid form to their names and have the assistance of the fillies allowance today. However, they will all have to go some if Trinculo hits the gates running and Nick Littmoden's charge has a cracking opportunity to open his account for the season here.
