In depth

Verdict

Ben Lilly was way out of his depth in the Ascot Gold Cup but sets the standard back in the appropriate class. It's a tough call off 10-0 though but he should go well. Flymetothestars, off for nearly four years prior to last month's reappearance, is best watched, likewise Cuban Hope, also back last month after 654 days away. Land Of Winter, useful on the Flat was last seen in March when tailed off over hurdles and Platform Nineteen is yet another with an absence to overcome - he's been off 648 days. GOLDEN FLAME, outclassed in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot but previously progressive in fair handicaps and with no fitness doubts looks the safest option.
