This presents ROYAL TROOPER with a good chance to get off the mark; High Office and Antipodean are forwarded as the best of the rest. Antipodean is set to race from 1lb out of the weights and obviously has it to do on paper. However, the gelding is unexposed on turf and could be the surprise package of the race. High Office will be a popular choice for fans of Richard Fahey and the son of High Chaparral shouldn't be underestimated. He is likely to be a lot sharper after his reappearance and can throw down the gauntlet to the selection. However, this better ground can bring about improvement from Royal Trooper, who will experience an unyielding surface for the first time. The form of his latest start was boosted no-end when Montaff finished second in the Derby Trial at Lingfield at the weekend. And although it would be dangerous to get carried away with that effort, the portents look good for Royal Trooper as he bids to make a successful handicap debut this afternoon.
