In depth

Verdict

Mick Quinlann's Alhamazing is interesting on his British debut having won his only start in Italy and has to be respected but a safer bet looks to be Abbey Cat, who is preferred to Mister Benedictine. The last mentioned finally opened his account when landing a soft maiden at Brighton last week and the son of Mister Baileys may struggle under his penalty today. Sgt Schultz was highly tried on his debut in the Chesham but has failed to progress as much as may have been anticipated since then and may be best watched now. Pat Haslam's Herninski also ran in the Chesham at York but has not been seen since then and preference is for Alan Swinbank's Abbey Cat, who gained a deserved first success over course and distance last time and is taken to follow up.
