Formal Approval, Plectrum and Call Me Max are three against the field in this maiden and the vote is given to Call Me Max. The selection is more exposed than some of these but he wasn't beaten far over a mile at Bath last time behind Wavertree Warrior. This slight drop in trip should suit and he might just be capable of getting his head in front. Plectrum was well-backed but disappointed on his debut at Kempton. He is clearly well-regarded but has plenty to prove today, and it will be interesting to see if there is market confidence behind him once again. Formal Approval was a fair third on her debut behind Namathej and as she hails from the Mark Johnston yard she may once again be popular with punters. However, she didn't look anything special that day and with the drop in trip not sure to suit we will take her on. Dilala is from a top yard and was slowly away on her debut, so she may be capable of better here, but for the winner we will stick with Call Me Max who may be able to make his racecourse experience count.
