Odabella's debut second when unfancied at Newbury 13 days ago - a stablemate was sent off as a short-priced favourite - was a good effort and she can go one better in this fillies' maiden race. Henry Cecil's Dawnus, second in each of her runs to date, and Barry Hills Chetak, stand out as dangers. The latter is interesting. You would think that a half-brother by Halling to Zindabad would stay further than this mile so he might be all the sharper for his first run since November. However, he should improve with racing whatever happens tonight. John Gosden also runs the Desert King filly, Over Rating, whose dam won in Listed company over a mile. Previous experience tells us that the Gosden outsider can surpass expectations but, on jockey bookings, Odabella has to be the favoured one.
