tracked leader, led 2f out, clear final furlong, pushed out
led, headed 2f out, one pace
tracked leaders, outpaced over 2f out
held up in rear, ridden over 2f out, no impression
Disappointingly just the four runners line up for this handicap which looks a virtual match between Lady Hestia and FIN VIN DE LEU, with preference for the latter, who gets the vote with The Composer rated the best of the rest. The selection kept on well when successful at Beverley over this trip last month and, having been largely disappointing in three starts since then, Mark Johnston's gelding can now race off a 2lb lower mark than at Beverley in what was a stronger race. Lady Hestia has to be respected with Marcus Tregoning having his stable in fine form but the Yarmouth winner was well held on the Polytrack at Kempton last time and looks best watched after that effort. Eve Johnson Houghton's Spinning Waters is hard to recommend after recent efforts and of more interest may be The Composer, who has dropped to a career low mark. This is a race that lacks any real quality but Fin Vin De Leu may be worth chancing in it against some moderate and out of form rivals.
