      Verdict

Carcharias hadn't finished in the front three in eight career starts until coming good in no uncertain style at Chepstow last Thursday when part of an Ed De Giles treble. Connections are obviously keen to get him out again under a penalty before he's reassessed and he seems sure to go well under the champion jockey. However, he does drop down to a sprint trip here and CAPTAIN RYAN is preferred. All five career wins have come at this venue and he ran another good race here last time when third in a large field handicap behind Go Amber Go. Fast ground is no concern and a strong run is anticipated. Malcolm Saunders enjoys a good record at Bath and Babyfact, a close second at Lingfield latest, should deliver a competitive effort for the yard. Verus Delicia needs to bounce back from some moderate efforts this term.
