    Verdict

Richard Hannon was mob-handed when the entries for this race were announced, but with BEACON his sole declaration in the race, he can see off the fairer sex today. The son of Paco Boy was turned over when an even money favourite on debut at Doncaster but he made no mistake at Salisbury and exhibited plenty of resolution at the finish. Cheerio Sweetie was somewhat below par in the Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester though she is clearly held in some regard as that was the third time that she had gone to post as a short-priced favourite. Areion continues in the headgear she wore when posting a 50/1 surprise at Kempton while One Moment has to be respected despite coming into this race as a maiden. Robert Cowell's filly ran creditably in defeat at Nottingham recently and, with her stable sending out plenty of winners at present, she still looks open to improvement.
