FLINTLOCK can get the better of Red Rossini and Smokey Ryder amongst others. A drop in trip for Flintlock was long overdue on the evidence of his first three starts but connections finally gave in to the obvious and were rewarded with a maiden success over six furlongs at Windsor. This further drop in trip should suit this speedy son of Oasis Dream even better and he can leave this field trailing in his wake. A low draw is usually advantageous here unless the ground rides very soft and if further rain gets into the ground then it would boost the claims of rivals such as Red Rossini and Smokey Ryder. The former has had a fairly busy season but may still have a little more in the locker on the evidence of his last two starts; his latest effort was better than the bare finishing position suggests but the speed of the selection may leave him with too much ground to make up in the closing stages. Smokey Ryder contested the same nursery at Kempton and was another not suited by the way that the race unfolded; she had previously posted a fair performance in the context of this race in a Newbury nursery that is working out well and she makes some each-way appeal. Many more can be given each-way claims in a contest that looks competitive with the exception of Flintlock who can blitz these rivals.
