Verdict

Mick Channon's Osgood only beat one home in a better race than this at York last time and has to be considered being dropped in class today but he could probably do with some help from the handicapper and a better bet looks to be PURPLE GALLERY, who is preferred to Sir Bruno. Bryn Palling's gelding ran better when chasing home Jubail over a mile at Leicester last week and he has every chance racing off a 1lb lower mark today but remains a maiden after 10 starts and that run may be extended. Michael's Nook probably needs more help from the handicapper and of more interest may be Southern Cape, who is unexposed after just four career starts so far. The vote though goes the way of Stan Moore's Purple Gallery, who has been placed in his last two outings, latterly when third of 13 behind Kingsdine at Chepstow, and he can go two better today and gain a deserved success.
