POKANOKET is marginally preferred to Cooksgrove Lady in this modest little contest. Dree Hill looks the best of the rest. Irish raider Dree Hill hasn't stood much racing and it may be significant that she makes the trip across the sea for today's modest prize-money. She ran well in a similar race at Perth at the start of this month and, as the trip should suit her; a repeat effort would see the lightly raced eight-year-old in the thick of the action today. From the others: Ninah hasn't raced under rules since 2005, so isn't difficult to overlook, while Tallow Bride has lost her way and would need luck on her side to even make the frame. Therefore, it looks best to concentrate on Pokanet and Cooksgrove Lady. The latter has been well placed to rack up her sequence of victories and, while no one can argue that she hasn't run with credit, it is also fair to say they have been very weak events. And at the likely odds, Pokanet, a proven battler is taken as a better betting proposition today.
