In depth

Verdict

A classy performer at best, Hurricane Lamp faces an easier task than he has done of late. However, while he has won going this way round there is a suspicion he may be better going right-handed. Mr Baxter Basics, like Hurricane Lamp, is getting on in years and while still capable of fair form he hasn't won for nearly three years. Providing last weeks effort hasn't taken too much out of him, Quality First looks the one to be with. Heather Dalton's gelding looked to be in total control turning for home at Uttoxeter last Saturday, only to be worn down on the run to the line. He can run off the same mark here and providing more patient tactics are employed, he can gain compensation.
