In depth

Verdict

Mohawk Star can land the opener at the expense of the McCain pair Coming Again and Reem Two, with Maharaat needing to improve to figure. Mohawk Star was far from fluent at the final flight on his last visit here, but still ran well to finish third to Rhapsody Rose. The first-time blinkers seemed to help, and this former Irish Flat horse should go close. Reem Two has been consistent enough as well, but might need a step up in trip to be seen at his best, and preference is for his stablemate Coming Again who took on good company at Musselburgh last time. He was a good second to Don't Call Me Derek at Catterick the time before and should be in the shake-up. Maharaat nearly opened his account for Sir Michael Stoute on the Flat at Folkestone last June but the ground was fast then and he was well beaten, albeit in better company than this, on his Newbury timber debut. Without being too confident, Mohawk Star can prove to be the answer.
