Verdict

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY can land this on her sixth attempt; the main dangers appearing to be Dean Larracht while market support for Distinctive Spirit should be noted. A line through Shadow Bay leaves very little to choose between Happy Anniversary and Dean Larracht but the feeling is that Vicky Haigh's filly is likely to be better suited by the rain softened conditions that are likely to prevail. The front three in the Nottingham maiden contested by Happy Anniversary pulled quite a long way clear and with the third been the consistent Lisburn, the form looks relatively solid in the context of this race. Dean Larracht is open to further improvement and showed good speed throughout last time, the front two drawing well clear of a moderate field. That was selling company but the return to maiden company poses a stiff test. The Kevin Ryan trained Distinctive Spirit who's yearling price was considerably lower to that paid for him as a foal, is out of a six furlong winning mare. Being American bred, he would not want the ground to deteriorate while Liberty Trail, who completely missed the break on debut, showed he had learned quite a bit for that experience when finishing second last time out. Karl Burke's yard has begun to saddle juvenile winners in recent weeks and Ursula is an interesting newcomer being a half-sister to a former smart juvenile filly called Sans Reward who raced for Brian Meehan. Happy Anniversary is given the vote to break her maiden tag. (John McDonnell)
