Alkaraama’s improvement came too late to get him into the big race but it would be no surprise if the three-year-old picked up some nice compensation in this consolation contest given he came up against another progressive sprinter when beaten at Ascot two weeks ago. Major Valentine has hit a rich vein of form and is a big ride for apprentice Kate Leahy while Golden Apollo has the ability to win a race like this, though hasn’t been quite firing on all cylinders this season. Gabrial The Saint and Citron Major are others for the shortlist but we’ll take a chance on top weight ADMIRALITY as he’s been showing good speed in hot handicaps over 7f recently so should relish a fast-run 6f. Lahore and Venturous may be best of the rest.
