In depth

Verdict

None of these line up in the best of form, and only a small vote of confidence goes to Monolith ahead of Irish Wolf and Supreme Huntress. Not one of the six runners here managed to trouble the judge last time, with Monolith beaten 14-lengths by Oscar Park at Cheltenham. However, he should have things more his own way in this smaller field, and will be strongly fancied to come out on top. Irish Wolf makes the long journey up from Wales on the back of a five-length fifth to Albertas Run at Aintree. Like the selection, he takes a drop back in distance, but has to give weight away all round. Supreme Huntress got bogged down in the heavy going at Plumpton in February and has been rested since, so may have more to offer, but Royals Darling jumped much too slowly behind Burntoakboy at Cheltenham to consider strongly. We return to Monolith as the answer to a tricky affair.
