Compton Dragon can defy topweight against Skiddaw Jones, Scurra and Maritime Blues. Compton Dragon left Gerard Butler after running in last year's Stewards Cup and has failed to add to his tally for Dandy Nichols. However he has started to slip down the handicap and it has to be said that he did not get the best of passages at Doncaster on his latest outing. He gets another chance here to prove that he truly stays beyond a mile, and gets the vote over Skiddaw Jones who kept on well behind Royal Indulgence here last time. The step up in trip should help and he can give the selection most to do. Scurra has been fairly consistent and is a course winner so has to be respected, while Maritime Blues may benefit from more restraint after trying to make all at Newmarket and can be fancied to reach the frame, but for the winner we return to Compton Dragon who can gain his first success in two years.
