Verdict

Mark Brisbourne's Ben Hur has to be respected in this lowly company but a 5lb penalty incurred for his win at Leicester three outings ago may be enough from preventing him resuming winning ways and preference is for the reappearing Ambushed, who gets the vote over the consistent Tinian. The last mentioned has done little wrong in recent outings and is closely matched with Ben Hur on Leicester running. Karl Burke's gelding rates a bigger danger than the Willie Jarvis-trained The Fun Merchant. The three-year-old is less exposed than some of these following three runs in maiden-company but it is of concern that his handler now drops the son of Mind Games into this grade. With Alan Berry's stable now back among the winners, Lion's Domane has to be respected although he needs to step up on previous form to take a hand and preference is for Ambushed. Peter Monteith's gelding comes here fit from a winter campaign that has seen the son of Indian Ridge perform with credit over both hurdles and fences and, with the stable in good form, he looks worth chancing in a race where he is favoured by the weights.
