Verdict
Magnus Maximus is one of several on a winning run but is penalised 8lb after scoring at Ascot last time. Nameitwhatyoulike and Hillbilly Boy are also progressive and beat the same horse when landing Listed sprints at York and Chester respectively. They start from opposite ends of the draw but the handicapper may have caught up with Orion's Bow now as both he and stablemate Kimberella were well behind Nameitwhatyoulike last time. Brando was ahead of Glen Moss and Absolutely So when second in the Wokingham at Ascot in June and the former’s stablemate Teruntum Star will relish the soft ground under Pat Smullen. Richard Fahey bids to repeat last year’s success and relies on ante-post favourite Growl today, who is now 8lb higher than when scoring in soft ground at Windsor. Lulu The Zulu could go well but Michael Appleby also runs last year’s runner-up POYLE VINNIE, who was ahead of Hoof It, Rivellino and Jack Dexter last term and is at his best on soft ground. Final Venture needs to improve off his current mark while Aeolus, Johnny Barnes and Ascription have all been competing in pattern company though the latter is making a belated seasonal reappearance.
