In depth

Verdict

Marcus Eile is narrowly preferred in a trappy affair while Moulin de Mougins, Man Crazy and Major Danger are the likeliest alternatives. The selection confirmed the promise of his debut effort when landing a five-furlong Beverley maiden in April and swiftly followed up in a minor event over the same trip at Newcastle four days later. The son of Daggers Drawn was far from discredited in a Listed event over six furlongs at Epsom on Derby day but was unsuited by a slow pace when below his best at Hamilton last time. Sure to be suited by the step up to seven furlongs for the first time and given a fair handicap mark for his nursery debut, Karl Burke's charge is expected to give a good account under his regular rider. Moulin de Mougins appeared well suited by the step up to this trip when an easy Beverley maiden winner last month but hung badly under pressure on a return visit when chasing home a fair sort on his latest outing and is probably best watched on this occasion. Major Danger has shown little to date but is well related, being a half-brother to a Royal Lodge winner, and hails from a shrewd yard so may do better off a feather weight on his nursery debut. Man Crazy has shown a respectable level of form in maidens but this pacey performer is far from certain to appreciate the step up in trip so Marcus Eile looks the answer in a difficult heat.
