In depth

Verdict

Not a race to be dogmatic about as many of them have claims on the pick of their form. However, something has to win and marginal preference is for the unexposed Hip Hop Harry, who edges a narrow vote over Melodian, who missed a recent engagement at York for this, and Cita Verde, who looks like being primed for a winter campaign over the jumps. The usually consistent Tony Tie is another with place claims and heads a long list of dangers out the rest in a wide open race. That said, Hip Hop Harry starts his handicap career off a mark of just 75 after showing a determined attitude in getting off the mark on only his second start which came at Pontefract last month. Peruvia hails from a yard that have enjoyed a tremendous season and is another who could push the selection all the way. But,as so often happens at this time of the year, it is a lesser exposed rival who casts a nagging doubt about the form today. Hip Hop Harry could go on to be anything but the fact that he is only 5lb off the ceiling for this race after just two starts, gives him the look of a blot on the handicap this early stage of his career.
