In depth

Verdict

Plenty of runners here who look likely to build on their promising first runs and with Mark Johnston scoring in the last two years of this maiden, we will tentatively side with Arctic Cape ahead of Chivola and Quest For Success. The selection showed up for a fair way on his debut at Ascot and shaped as if the run would do him some good. The stable are in good form and he is fancied to run a big race. Another Decree, Novestar and Chivola all finished in fourth place on their respective debuts and are entitled to improve; Chivola's run behind Choose Your Moment looks solid with the second winning since and the same horse has franked Another Decree's form, whilst the winner has since gone on to a romp in a classy Newbury nursery. Quest For Success finished in third in Another Decree's race and is fancied to go well again. Habbie Heights steps up a furlong in trip which may well suit, and whilst the betting will help guide, we will return to Arctic Cape for the winner.
