    Verdict

    TAVENER scored at Thirsk and made a bold bid to complete a double at Catterick but was caught close home. That was a slightly better race than this and he can return to winning ways. Edgar Balthazar has been beaten three times off this mark or lower in recent weeks but Star Cracker was unlucky in-running here last time and looks the main threat providing the ground doesn't dry out too much. Rock Canyon won twice here in May, though at a lower grade.
