In depth

Verdict

Rioja Day is always best with some give in the ground as he showed here last month. But that was only his second victory in 33 starts and this is slightly higher grade. Argaki went up 6lb for his victory here last month and has struggled to make an impression in subsequent starts so, in the expectation that the ground will dry out, NORMANDY KNIGHT gets the nod. Richard Fahey's charge completed a double over this trip before finding 1m1f too far in a better class event at York and this looks his grade. Irish raider Lady Ranger has been inconsistent but would have a chance on the form she showed here on Saturday when just held over 7f by Jay Kay. Dark Crystal ran well at Musselburgh on Friday after scoring there a week earlier.
