Chergan, a 121-rated chaser at his best, reverts to hurdles here but Sue Bradburne's gelding faces a stiff assignment up against the useful Collier Hill, who probably has most to fear from Noblefir. The last mentioned ran well on his hurdles debut when second to subsequent William Hill Handicap Hurdle winner Overstrand at Carlisle last month. Len Lungo has his string in good form at present and the son of Shernazar has to be respected but Collier Hill sets a decent standard and will be tough to beat. In good form on the flat this season when, among other races, he won the Old Newton Cup, Alan Swinbank's gelding made a successful start to his hurdling career when the facile winner of a maiden hurdle at Kelso. There should be plenty more to come from the son of Dr Devious, who is impossible to oppose. Course winner Another Rum and the consistent Skenfrith are others worthy of a mention but Collier Hill is potentially top class and gets the vote.
