Grandad Bill is a speculative selection ahead of Shy Glance and Apache Nation, while a big run from Papa¿s Princess could also be a possibility. The last named - a stablemate of the selection - is less exposed than many of her rivals and is taking her racing well at the moment. A line through Royal Dignitary brings her into the argument and she helps Jim Goldie play a strong hand. Apache Nation has won off a 3lb higher mark in the past and, as this is his grade, he cannot confidently be ruled out. Still, he has looked to be in the grip of the handicapper of late and needs everything to go right for him. Shy Glance was a length-and-a-quarter in front of the selection when they met here 16 days ago and should make a bold attempt to uphold the form. However, Grandad Bill is much better off at the weights today and, as he is open to improvement at the trip, the mount of Paul Hanagan gets the nomination this time around.
